Super Sailor Saturn T-Shirt Design

Well....after a few months of toil and partial trouble with the pose used from a reference shot of her Super form, Saturn is finally done! The first one for the Outer Senshi line! Huzzah...! In the reference shot I used, it didn't show that she had a left arm at all and based off of my friend trying to mimic the pose for me, a tiny little sliver of her left arm would still show. It looked like she had no left arm at all and just a hand at first to me.

I didn't want to overcrowd her background with clutter too much and tried to keep things fairly simple for little Hotaru. A funny, short story about the "cutie skulls" as I call them from her background. Since one of her official titles is called the "Soldier of Death" or the "Soldier of Rebirth" and her Senshi attacks are somewhat related to sound, I hadn't the slightest clue about how to emphasize her attack element. So, a friend and colleague of mine suggested using skulls as part of her design since skulls/crossbones are commonly used to represent death. I thought it was a possibly good idea that could work, so I went looking for some cute, non-scary skulls to use, and voila..! Because of the skulls, I think it may be the cutest one I've done so far, lol.

The two kanji that I've used in her design mean "Rebirth" when written together.

Program Used: Illustrator CS4 (long, long time)
